WAITLIST PROTOCOL

Under 8 & U10 Teams:

  • EOI is put out by the Committee at the start of a new season (end of Term 1 for Winter & start of Term 3 for Summer)
  • All teams are created from the waitlist. This is a fair way to allow interested new players to start basketball with WJBC and also a way to manage the training court roster (This alleviates a team being created independently and a new player to the Club never having an opportunity to join a team)
  • U8 competition is a mixed competition. Teams must have a minimum of 2 male and 2 female players if there are children on the U8 playlist (This ensures we enable all junior players to join our Club when new teams are formed and they are first introduced to basketball. We need to encourage and facilitate any junior participation in our U8 teams)

Under 12 Teams:
  • All teams are created from the waitlist. this is a fair way to provide opportunity for players on the waitlist to join a WJBC team
  • At the start of every new season the Waitlist Manager (WM) contacts all coaches & team managers to ask if they need any new players
  • When a new player registers on the waitlist, the WM contacts relevant teams to advise of an available player
  • If the new player is of a suitable skill standard to develop further within the team they will be invited to attend a trial training session (This is a two-way trial for the child & parent to assess how the new player will fit into the prospective team experience / development wise and for the Coach to assess the fit of the new player into the team)
  • If the player is not suited to the division of the team, they remain on the waitlist with the expectation that a new team will be created or a spot will become available in a lower/higher division team

General Waitlist Protocol for U14 and above:
  • It is the responsibility of the Coach / Team Managers that once a waitlist player joins their team they are to communicate back to the WM so the register can be updated
  • It is important to note that Wembley Primary School children will be prioritised for new teams formed, new players being placed in newly formed teams and the WPS training hall roster.
